I've been tagged by Marina Mahathir for the Save Yvonne's Sight Meme.
Yvonne Foong Ming Niang received 'Her World Young Achiever 2008' (read here) award early this year, for she has achieved more than most people have done in a lifetime.
Her continuing fight against neurofibromatosis (NF) is legendary.
Yes Yvonne is suffering from neurofibromatosis (NF) which causes tumours to keep growing inside her body.
In fact Yvonne has received a long list of awards for her tireless work to go on living & help others along the way, for she is a fighter, a feisty wonderful young lady.

To know more about Yvonne, here are some write ups:
Marina Mahathir has blogged about Yvonne : please read this
Sharon Bakar has also blogged about her plight before : please read this.
Yvonne has lost her hearing and now she faces losing her sight too. She is scheduled for an operation between 1 and 4 December 2009. But of course she has to raise the funds by herself. The cost of surgery is USD44,000 or RM154,770, and the cost of staying in hospital for two weeks is USD915 or RM3219.
She has raised about RM10,000 of this and is hoping to raise the rest by republishing her book I'm Not Sick; I'm Just a Bit Unwell in English and Chinese. The books are now available in Malaysian bookshops and from her web site store. She is also selling T-shirts at bazaars and via her web site store. You can read about her surgery and donate to her fund here.

A person like Yvonne is inspiring. She does not wallow in self pity. She never gives up. She's always thinking of ways to survive life. I wrote this status report on my Facebook inspired by Yvonne's feisty & positive attitude....

observes life is mainly governed by our attitude (either positive or negative). There are people with severe disabilities yet they have achieved more than normal people have done even in two lifetimes!!

Great gesture to help another person in need.
Hi Ruby, thank you for your kind gesture. Have noted the story.
Will see what I can do from here.
Really nice to hear from you, Ruby.
You keep well and keep a song in your heart, best regards and I'll take this opportunity to say, 'selamat hari raya to you and all at home, Lee.
Hi Anon, this is such a small gesture & I just wish people with any means come forward & offer help. Thanks.
Hi Lee,
How nice of you to drop by. Thanks so much for responding. Thanks so much for taking note & contemplating to see what you can do & I know you will help...as you have done before already with other people in need.
Yes I will keep a song in my heart as that helps us to keep our sanity in this current world.
Thanks so much for the raya wish. It is so round the corner, but I am not celebrating in any big way, when we know so many people are in hardship nowadays with wars & economic downturn.
You keep well Lee, & keep being kind. Cheers.
I wish to record my thanks to Pak Idrus who has been so kind to respond & posted this meme on his blog page as well. Thanks Pak Idrus, for being thoughtful.
